I can’t believe it’s almost Fourth of July!
My favorite FOJ memory of all time? My dog running straight toward the annual FOJ Block Party Potluck!

My family always celebrates FOJ at home with the neighbors. In the morning there are games, a bike decorating contest, and other stuff I usually sleep through. In the afternoon there’s a giant potluck where every family on my block share the yummiest feast ever.
That particular year, I had just rescued Sniffles about two weeks before this incident. He was still a little wild, very insecure, and had severe separation anxiety. We left him in my mom’s yard, thinking he’ll be fine playing with my mom’s dog, but nope, that’s not the case. The moment doors were left opened, he slipped into the house from the back and ran full force through the garage toward the potluck crowd.
Everyone stared at him and someone said, “Hey, that dog looks like Sniffles!” Truth to be told, since I had just taken his cone off earlier that week, I still had trouble recognizing his face. So yes, the crazy dog running towards the potluck was indeed my baby boy, Sniffles.
